i have a couple of questions i hope you guy can help me with:
1. I have 2 lenses now a 18-55mm and a 55-200mm. what would be another good lens to have? i was thinking either a nifty fifty or a wide angle lens?
2. I sometime get on my display 'image too dark' esp at night. i think this is due to the fact i need a proper flash maybe or do i need to adjust something. i can get it to take the photo sometimes but it does a long exposure and then it appears blurred so i want to try and get rid of that
3. if the answer to 2 is i need a flash can you recommend one that isnt too dear and will get me started
thanks for all your help

1. What do you like to shoot? Have a look at your current photo library and see what focal length you use the most; that may be a good place to start. But, why do you want to buy a lens for the sake of buying a lens . Hold your monies for now; and when you find a topic to shoot where your current line of lens don't give you what you want, only then fill in that gap with a new lens.

For example, if you want to dibble with macro shots, then start thinking of a macro lens or extension tubes. Or, if you're into architecture, then start to think of tilt-shift lens. You get my drift!

2. I think you will need to boost your ISO to allow for faster shutter speeds. Of course, the higher the ISO the more grainy (noise) your image will be. The use of a flash does solve this issue, to a certain degree. Would be interesting to see a sample so that a more precise feedback could be given.

3. Any of the Nikon range of flash are great. From the SB400 all the way up to the SB900. It's all up to how much you want to spend really.

when i say image too dark i mean thats what th camera tells me when i want to take the photo esp while dark. i found this esp annoying while on holiday at night thats why i asked about the flash im still learning and would like to take a course soon too learn about everything ie the termanology and while it means to me and the camera. i only thought of a nifty fifty as a guy i know has one and loves it so i thought that would do me. i sort of take anything i like so at the min dont think i can say exactly what ill take. think ill keep an eye out for a flash and if one comes up at a good price maybe try that

You'd be buying the lens for the wrong reason. I'd recommened saving your money and either buy the flash or put it aside until you know about what you like to shoot. You've got the 18-200mm focal range covered, so unless you want to start taking wildlife, aviation or sports (for which you will probably need a telephoto that goes to at least 300mm), then I'd just concentrate on learning how best to use what you've got, and maybe think of getting better quality lenses when you've got into something specific.

Hope this helps.

Agree with comment, Keep the pennies learn your equipment you have a large enough focal length covered to take most pictures, unless you have some specific you want to shoot in which case someone could help if you let us know.

If it's too dark to take pics according to camera then new lens won't resolve that at a rough guess it's too dark for the camera to get a focus. What are you trying to shoot in the dark??
