OK as some people may have noticed I was talking on here about buying a Fuji S8000fd. Well I bought it and it arrived today.

Lovely build quality and feels great to use..

BUT.....

I am concerned about the picture quality, now I know there are some noise issues with this camera as I read in reivews but the noise I am seeing is just crazy. Below are two photos taken of my desk one with my old Minolta (4MP) and one with the Fuji (8MP)

I would love some opinions... or ideas what I may be doing wrong. Both shots with flash on Auto

Have you got the exif data for your test shot?

Which mode did you use?

You have chosen a difficult situation to test the camera ( indoors, dark, low light)

I'm sure you did plenty of research before you choose this model. Check out this next link for an indepth review and read your manual.

I have a similar style nikon camera to yours(coolpix8800 8mp 10x optical zoom, now used as back up) these cameras have much smaller sensors than DSLR's and do suffer from noise when you raise the ISO

Thanks, I did read that review...

I realise that they have small sensors and I wasn't expecting perfection at that price but I was expecting it to be better quality than my 5 year old 4 MP minolta :(

How do I include the sxit data ?? Just copy and past from Photoshop ???

not familiar with photo shop, just look at the ISO value, thats the main cause for noise. Which mode did you use, depending on which mode you use the ISO may be on an auto setting and will automatically choose a high value. Try ISO @ 200 in aperture mode with aperture wide open(lowest number) you might need to experiment.

I'm off to bed now, I'm up at 5

just looked at the last time I used mine indoors at night, I used ISO 50, shutter @1/60 aperture @2.8(wide open) auto flash and the shots were ok no noticable noise.

I know its an obvious question but have you got the jpeg settings up to their highest quality?

Right ...ISO 50 ? I dont think I saw that option ? I will check

Yeah I set the camera to FINE mode....

I have found the P setting helps a bit... maybe I am just not setting it up right as I have seen some members 8000fd photos on here and there were superb so I am sure it can be done
