Collectively, Icelandic horses' owners assigned me to
take pictures of their proteges.

It was a cool day out, and a great chance to discover
the different personalities of those well mannered hor-
ses. I was surprised by their level of energy and the
peace and quiet they nevertheless inspire.

I took advantage of the situation for a personal pursuit…
exploring portraits…

I think the last one is great - hits just the right composition imo.

Those eyes have such a calming effect and their emotive power can be still be experienced through your photos. (y)

No3 for sure - it's all about that eye. :)

Thanks, and yes, communication is everything!

Of all domesticated animals the horse is one I and no doubt many others feel an affinity to.

I have not ridden since about 1970 but when out walking cannot pass a field with horses in and not stop to talk to them........it is a calming and settling interlude. Having said that it is all equines including donkeys.

Thanks for sharing these engaging & appealing images.

:)

PS what is/are the Islander Horses ???

That was my observation too and motivation
for this approach to portray them!

Yes, Laurence, as stated in the OP!.

I could not understand the description "Islander horses" as I thought you live central France, I was therefore asking about the Island.......which island is it?

Only been to Austria once, this was rock & ice climbing in the Otztal & Stubaier Alps.......when I was a lot younger and fitter.
