Good set of shots. Number 2 the F4 Fhantom is my favourite

Nostalgia eh.....I could even be persueded to go to the so called "Mach Loop" if I thought one of these might put in a ghostly appearance. Memories of Binbrook, Scampton and Coningsby in the 70's.

Thanks for a 5 minute flashback.

Been lucky enough to be stood by the side of the runway as one of the LPG's Lightning did a fast taxi run in full reheat. Wow. My world was aviation fuel, noise and heat.

That's some aircraft, shame the can't be flown in this country anymore.

One thing that I like about your photos is that they make the jets look so heavy duty and used.

Still makes me wonder how the hell humans managed to get lumps of metal of the ground

There was a Vulcan at Southend Airport..... I am going to investigate.... I love 'em!

Good stuff wouldn't have minded seeing some of that kit come through the Mach Loop they have the Vulcan flying again maybe one day you never know it may come around low level now that would be something to see. Some of the old low fly shooters from the "film!!!" days have images of the Lightning at low level happy days great memories.

Thanks for sharing.

Back when I werre a nipper (aye lad) and lived on an RAF base in Germany I had the honour of being deafened by a lightning breaking the sound barrier at low level, it was wonderful :D

Those aircraft are showing signs of neglect though which is sad.

Number 2 for me,
Its a shame these are ground based.
There are many iconic arcraft and if they can only be preserved in museums thats a great shame to see these birds in the air in there elemt is fantastic.
Unfortunatly its south africa to see lightnings in flight.
However these birds on there open day do the scamble to take off velocity, oh the temptation not to pull back on that stick must be imense.

The Mighty Vulcan returned at last.
