Bascially, a cracking little camera that has served me very well over the past 24 months, and that has well and truly sucked me into photography.
Great battery life, easy to handle, lots of compatible lenses (which I am truly glad I spent my money on as advised to here before upgrading the body) and has been great to learn on. I really feel I am going to fully appreciate my D7000 and take complete advantage of its features having learned on the D40.
So, to any newbies, when people on here advise you to go for a cheaper body and invest in lenses, do listen, because it is definitely the best course of action. There are many great starter cameras to learn on, get the handle of the basics for a while, so that when you upgrade you know exactly what you are looking for and have the glass already to make the most of it.
