Someone tell me this isn't a stupid idea please.

I really do need to reconsider a Canon 300 L F4 Is don't I.

shouldn't that read, If it were made by Canon it would have a red ring painted on it and be £300 dearer :D

Thank's all. It's given me alot to think about and has probably made me re-evaluate what I want from my next lens purchase.
I tend to be a bit 'Bull-headed' so my bank account thanks you. For the time being ;)
 
If you have the money for the sigma 100-300mm f4 and have a jessops near you with stock, then get it, at £600, nearly 1/2 price because jessops are no longer stocking sigma lenses I would get it, If you don't like it, your still quids in because new everywhere else its retailing at £1150, so you'll easily recoup money and some. A no brainer really. Its a very good lens, especially at £600, you won't be disappointed.

I had a 150-500(or maybe 170-500, blanked it out) and tbh I was never really happy with it, I used my 70 -200 with 1.4tc more as it was just better.
