something wrong with me?

Posted this up on the eos forum but thought I would throw it open to you guys as well.

I think that there must be something seriously wrong with me - why?

I had a 7D used it for about 6 months then got the 1D mk4 - after reading up on how great it was and how it would blow the 7D out of the water in every way, and once I shot with a 1 series I would never go back etc etc. . . . well 6 months on again and I have gone back to the 7D - why?

I just don't get it? 3.5k body against a 1k body - where is the 2.5k difference / improvement? I shoot everything from macro's to flowers through kite surfers and animals at the zoo right up to my main interest motorsport, and from my point of view the 7D wins hands down every time, I only shoot in daytime so rarely go above iso 400 even when it's chucking it down with rain. Main glass is the 70-200 2.8 mk2 / tamron 90 / 24-100. Is it because I can't afford the big 2.8 primes that surly the 1D series was made for and so I'm not using it's full potential?

Photo's from the 7D are just as sharp / colourful as those from the mk4, they print out larger (have a print done at 45" and not a jagged line to be seen) and crop in fine, everything just seems . . . . easier for want of a better word.

Again - today I was reading one of the typical 'should I upgrade to a 1D' topics and the replies are all the same, so what am I missing - please let me know while I still own both bodies (although the mk4 is boxed up ready to sell)

I've probably asked myself similar questions on countless occasions although with me it was a case of owning a 7D on three separate occasions and each time not being entirely happy...

I bought a 5DMKIII two weeks ago despite the fact that I desperately wanted a 1DMKIV... Why? Partly because it was a few hundred quid cheaper but mainly because I've been using full frame for the past few years and love the look and 'feel' I get from the images it produces.

Oddly enough, your 1D has come up in conversation on a few occasions in my house in the past week mainly because I've considered selling the 5DMK3 to fund your camera but to be honest, I really don't know if it's an improvement over what I already own!

I guess that in the end, you just have to go with your gut and experience and hope that you've made the right choice! :)
 
If you fancy a swap you only have to ask, as you say - not really enough in the price to make any difference.

See - this is what I mean - everyone that owns the mk4 raves about how good it is. . . . must be me then :'(

When shooting things like small birds in flight the keeper rate on the mk4 is a lot better, noise at high iso on the mk4 is also a lot better you see this more when cropping in.
