hi all, has anyone ever had a fault with a sony 18-70 lens.
since iv had mine its had a problem with it,which is 3months old by the way.it sounds and feels like a spring is snapped or twisted the wrong way as i zoom in and out,it makes like a creaking noise.the shop i got it from told me i MUST HAVE GRIT or something in it,but iv never used this lens outside the house.what should i do and how do i go about it?
thanks all,chris.

i would insist that they at least send it back to sony for repair as it's within the warranty period.the shop has no rights telling you that "you must have got grit in it".you could also try speaking to sonyUK,but the shop should do it as the contract of sale is with them, and not sony...if you get no joy with the shop,go speak to your local citizens advice bureau, who will give you the best advice as to which avenue to take

Take it back to the shop for them to send for repair, alternativelt, contact Sony UK directly and see what they suggest re possibly sending it directly to them.

Either way, I agree with 'stan', how can the shop tell you thats what you've done without a strip down ??

they also talked to me as if i was a baby,i`m going to phone the shop again tomoz and talk to the manager.the shops over a hour away from me so should i ask for some sort of a deal as iv had to travel all that way twice if they agree to do something.

you may find that's just the way it is - it's a cheap kit lens afterall so it's not going to be built to Zeiss standards.

my 55-200 and 75-300 dont sound or feel anything like it.
