Sony 35mm f1.8 for landscapes...

Right Christmas is now officially six days away and I need to order my sony 35mm f1.8 however the reason for it's purpose is the 50mm FOV that has grabbed my attention when I was trying out film with a 50mm.

Originally I am buying a 35mm for that everyday usage and I also miss a wider shot when I shoot with my 50mm and so I realise I need a wide lens. I was wondering if this lens was any good for landscapes and what I mean by this is are there any examples of landscapes shot on 35mm (crop) or 50mm (FF) so I can have a quick judge of the type of FOV I can achieve etc.

my style for landscapes is more of compressed subjects compared to the common wide vista shot that most do.

will a 28mm f2.8 be any better due to it equalling a wider 42mm on crop sensor?
 
I quite like a 50mm length for landscapes, but as always it depends on your situation,style and its useful to have all options really. I find on my film body, a 35, 50 and 135 cover all my usual needs;

Some examples I have (can only remember the focal length of a handful of my film shots),

Cheers for them photos. It does seem to be wide enough for me then.

By the way when you say "40mm on digital" is that an actual 40mm lens which gives the FOV of 60mm or is that 20mm lens or something that has a FOV of 40mm?
 
40 which gives a FOV of 60, closest I could find!

So you want something wider than a 35 but not ultra wide, and your using it on a crop sensor digital only ?

no the trouble I had was that 50mm on a crop sensor was to narrow FOV so I wanted something wider and thought of the 35mm f1.8 which would be 52.5mm FOV on a crop sensor. it's definitely just about the right focal length on the wide end for me.

I misread your answer as you saying it wasnt wide enough, time for bed i think...:thinking:
