Sony a300 battery

I thinking about getting a sony a300, £300 (ish) is a good price for what you get. I have a old sony camcorder with the same style battery as the one in the sony a300. Would it work in the camera or will it mess it up?

I'm afraid not. The battery may be a similar style but that is where the similarity ends. Are you thinking about it as a spare battery?
