Sony A390 Remote

Hey Adam ;)

I think these work with Sony DSLR's however I have heard that cheap IR ones can screw up with connection, it might be best to get a cable version so you can make sure you get that definite shutter click when you press the shutter :)

The a390 is newish so that'd explain why there's no cable remote yet... I guess.

Thanks for the replys, I think I'll check eBay first :)

i use one of these which is similar to OP's linked one and it works perfect with my A390

Hi,

I'm doing an evening course on photography and as part of it, we have to do a couple of projects. My first one is on multiplicity and as you can imagine a remote will be needed, however, I've come across about 3 or 4 different ones and i'm not sure where to go from here!

Firstly there is the official Sony RMT
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-RMT-DS...8S/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1351423240&sr=8-18

Then we have a cheap and chearful
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-In...49KC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351423196&sr=8-1

Then we have the JJC replacement RM-T1

I noticed that this post was last commented on in Feb 2011, have Sony released a cabled remote yet or are there compatible ones that I may use? The reason for wanting a cabled one is that I've heard and read a lot of negative comments regarding the IR and having to be practically touching the camera with the remote before it works, which is pretty useless.....any ideas??

Thanks!

I got the generic (third party) Sony remote for £1.25 delivered on fleabay (Item no: 261108592603) and it works fine. Took about 2 and half weeks to arrive from Hong Kong. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261108592603 At that price you can afford to buy 2 or 3 in case you lose one or get a faulty one. :)

Works on any Sony Alpha or Alpha Nex camera with IR. Prefer a cable remote but only some models have a cable socket/port and none of the NEx models do.

Only downside of the IR remote is it needs to be in front of the camera (or to one side) and quite close to the camera -but not really an issue with a tripod - I just stand behind the camera, point the remote near the front/side and click away.
