in the new year i'll be switching from sony to canon, and although i have it narrowed down to a 40d or 50d i'm unsure of which to go for so i'm looking for some advice.
i've seen both cropping up in the classifieds on a regular basis and for the money they are going for they are a tempting proposition for me at the minute. i know the 40d might be getting on a bit now so i'm concerned with whether it would be a big enough step up from what i have now?
the 50d seems to attract about a £150-£200 premium over the 40d at the minute, this cash could be put towards lenses which i will need to buy because i have no canon gear at the minute and would be starting from scratch.
my aim is to one day be shooting weddings and portraits etc and in time the camera i buy now will become a backup, so i want something with the longevity to see me throughthe next couple of years while i gather up the range of lenses i'll need. budget for the camera body will be £500 approx and the sony won't be sold to add to this because my girlfriend will be' inheriting' it in an attempt to kickstart an interest in photography lol.
i'll be puchasing a tamron 17-50 2.8 and a nifty 50 at the same time to get me started, so opinions on both would be appreciated as well
