Hello, I have got a sony a55 and was wondering if I can take the memory stick in and out with out turning off the camera, will it damage the camera? I have read the the manual and there is nothing about it in there, and all so what is the quickest way to get photos from the camera to the pc/laptop to be printed? as I did not want to keep using the usb cable. Thanks in advance

you can but it's generally considered better practice to switch off.
Alphas tend to be very quick at downloading from the body but if you don't want to use the USB cable all the time then get a card reader.
Memory is ridulously cheap these days so if you don't already have a spare SD card get 1 & you can be shooting on 1 whilst downloading the other.

Thanks for the help and quick reply, was thinking about the card reader, I'm going to get one now.

I would always switch off before swapping a card (or changing lens) - it adds a few seconds to the time to swap cards, and it's just not worth the risk that it might corrupt the images on it.
