Sony a550 lens

I am looking at buying a new lens for my a550 I am looking to buy the Sony 70-200 g lens which is about £1500 but I have seen that sigma do one virtually the same at half the price does any one have any suggestions I want it for taking photos of birds in flight cheers Craig
 
If it were me I'd personally want something longer than 200mm (a lot of lenses will be soft at the long end).

200 is going to be a bit short, you really want to be kickin around at least 300 if not more. With that budget though you can get one of these and lots of change.
 
I've heard very good things about that lens Caleb, was actually thinking about hiring one for my holiday on the Broads this year.
 
I have the 70-200G,and it's a fantastic piece of glass that certainly isn't soft at the long end.for birds,I use it coupled with a 1.4X T/C and am more than happy with the results...however,I'm not a bird tog specifically,so would recommend you get something longer like the 70-400G which I had but sold due to lack of use.this is a fantastic piece of glass also,and one I can highly recommend.
