Sony A580 Lens Error "F--"

I was out shooting and I changed lenses, and put on my Sigma 18-250 (which has previously worked fine for a good few years) I now get "F--" flashing on the back screen instead of the actual aperature and I can't take pictures.

It seems like it is intermittently and very briefly "seeing" the lens as it flashes an F number every now and then.

Has anyone had this issue and got any ideas of how to fix it? (I've cleaned the contacts on the lens and body) Other lenses are also still working fine. Is this going to be new lens time?

Yeah, I've tried that a couple of times with no luck. I've done the lens and the body. My feeling is the lens is screwed as all my other lenses (both Sony and non-sony) are working fine.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue.

could send to sigma for repair ?
