Morning all,
I picked up a Sony A700 yesterday and have a problem with one of my lenses. The 18-70 and 100-300 are fine but when I put my Sigma 24mm on the camera there's a strange sound, the AF doesn't work and when I select MF and turn the ring it's ratchety. It's not the lens because I tried it on the KM5D and it's fine.
It's almost as though the AF drive on the body doesn't connect up with the lens properly, when I switch to MF it's as though you can feel then lens half of the coupling riding over the body half. Oddly I've just found the MF button by the grip which sounds like it retracts the drive and this stops the ratcheting. Not an ideal solution though.
Is this a known problem between the A700 and certain lenses or is it possible I have a duff camera?
