Just found this- now, I know I'm quite open on my dislike of Sony for many reasons but there appears to be a fair bit of innovation here so hats off to them and all that:D. Who knows, they may even stick to this latest strategy and camera nomenclature for a few months:p

It looks that they are targeting videographers with this camera. You would think they would have used the focusing system they have in their A6000 but instead it is limited to a 25-area contrast detect only. Great ISO range though
 
I like watching these recent Sony shows for that moment when they bring up the A-mount for a second or someone asks about it, it really is turning into the red headed step child. So, the A and E are now both called the "Alpha mount", not just "Alpha cameras". No idea why they keep making things so confusing.

4K to an external recorder seems like a let down? Especially with the GH4 recording to SD card. For everything else (1080 and 720 @ 120fps) it sounds nice.
 
rapid focus on video is disconcerting, and af can hunt too, so most dslr video is manual, and probably most movie stuff too i guess

might be todo with the codec? as its using something like raw but for video, and i think other cameras that do that are using SSD storage, and darn expensive
 
I think you're right that it targets videographers and that's probably a good strategy- it does seem that Sony and Panasonic have just gone for it with features to an extent. Canon seem too afraid to do much with video in their DSLR's for fear of taking sales from their video cameras as things haven't really moved on since the 5d MK II. Nikon are just all over the place and I don't see it changing any time soon.
