Hi everybody!
I've been asked by a friend to help with a problem on his Sony Alpha DSLR and not being an expert on this I thought I would ask all you TPers!
He said when he looks through the viewfinder all is as it should be and he takes the photo but when he plays it back on the screen,it seems that the whole picture has moved down so the bottom of the frame is cut off.He has changed the screen format from 16:9 to 4:3 and back again and has also reset to factory settings but no luck. He has got a couple of young kids and is wondering if they have got hold of his camera and played with it !
If anyone can help I'll pass some ideas on, cheers guys.
 
It sounds like the steadyshot mechanism which shifts the sensor around to counter vibrations has broken. If you tap the camera the sensor may shift back, but it will likely move again and will therefore need to be replaced. The first sign of this is usually the fact that the steadyshot option is greyed out in the camera's menu system.
 
Ah, that sounds like it could be expensive if it's the sensor, when I see him at work tomorrow I'll suggest some overtime may be useful! Maybe trade the kids in for a Nikon D4? he he
 
afaik only the mounting would need replacing, the sensor would be re-used.

Thanks guys, I will pass your comments on and see what happens! I still think two kids for a Nikon D4 would be the way to go!
