Could this be a Minolta 50mm f1.7 killer?

WE's release price is £134.99 (http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product/default.aspx?sku=1032084), and I imagine other retailers will be selling it cheaper. Amazon (US) are taking pre-orders for $149.99!

Hopefully, the price of the Minolta fifty will fall and I can finally get my hands on one!!(y)

It ought to be very sharp on APS-C but we'll have to wait for more reviews.
It will be new, guaranteed & you won't have to trawl camera shops, ebay etc. for s/h ones uncertain of condition etc.

I think the minolta will always carry a premium as it is a much better constructed lens than this one appears, but it should at least mean that sony close this gap to Canon and Nikon now if only they would put the beercan back onto production then they really would be into something.

they couldn't put the beercan back into production
a) it was out of production long before before KM pulled out
b) I don't think that Sony has the rights even if the tooling still existed
c) at 2009 pricing I don't think that it would represent good performance for the price they would have to charge so they would have to redesign it anyway
