Prompted by the enjoyment I am having with my new Xperia, I decided to do this mini review.

The Xperia X10 is a fairly large mobile, it has a 4 inch capacitive touch screen with glass coating. Despite the size it fits very well in the hand, and the touch screen is superb. It is definitely on a par with the iPhone, yet has many significant benefits. Notably, the screen is much larger and has far higher resolution, which makes everything much crisper. The camera is an 8mp device, though disappointingly there is no ISO control or auto flash, simply on or off. However it does have touch focus, which means you touch an area you want focused and it takes the shot. This is very useful for more creative framing. Image quality is fine, though not as good as the LG Renoir, Arena and Viewty Smart, which truly offered stand alone image quality.

Web browsing is a pleasure, it is very quick to load on wifi, 2g and 3g, and a doddle navigating and selecting links. bbc iplayer and you tube are excellent quality. Google maps is included, and again that is very quick and smooth to load.

Multi media

Music playing is excellent, though one weakness of the X10 is the built in speaker, which is quite low and tinny. However thru a decent pair of headphones it is fine, though the supplied headphones are pretty rubbish, I prefer the in-ear set I have from my previous Nokia N97 Mini. There is also no equalizer and stereo widening option, which is disappointing. Video and film playback is good, very crisp and no lagging.

There is a very good Adobe Photoshop app (free) for editing your photos. Also a creative camera effect (I forget the name!)
Android

The android market place offers a multitude of different applications. It at least rivals the App store, and a good many are free.

Calling.

Call quality is fine, though not as good as my old Nokia 5800, it also lacks a speaker phone.

messaging.

Being a google android device, it has native support for google mail, which is easy to use and offers the usual level of control. The keyboard is excellent and has good prediction.

I can't think of anything else...other than the screen is a magnet for fingerprints!

Its an amazing device, and I urge anyone considering the iPhone 3GS to try one of these first, as I believe it is far superior.
