Sony flash on Canon camera?

Hi Guys,

I'd like to try a Sony flash on a Canon camera, is it possible to get full TTL using a hot shoe converter / sync cable?

IFF you can get a proper schematic circuit diagram for both systems' hotshoes and flashguns, it may be possible to make an adaptor, IF the trigger voltages won't fry the electronics of your camera. Personally, I would try to do it using something like Pocket Wizards but I would check with the manufacturers or importers that such a ruse would work before spending! Probably cheaper to sell your Sony flash and buy a Canon one.

The trigger voltage should be safe enough but you'll be limited to manual flash only, no TTL......through a suitable adapter, of course.

was looking for something like the Pixel hot shoe converters.

They are available but without TTL as far as I can see - or available the other way around with TTL, Sony camera to Canon flash. I've sent them an email just in case I've missed it.

Already have the 600 RT flash, but loved the Sony HVL 58 when I was shooting Sony, so just thought I'd experiment.

Any other thoughts on getting this to work?

i would say there is virtually no chance of getting the sony flash to work ttl ( or should i say ettl ) on a canon dslr
the best you will be able to achieve is manual

even canons own TTL flashes ( z series ) will not work TTL on a dslr the chances of getting a different brand dedicated to a different camera manufacture working would be remote at best
