Sony Lens DT 50mm f/1.8 SAM

If it's anything like the 50mm f/1.8 lenses for Canon and Nikon, it'll be a fantastic lens for the money.

The Canon and Nikon versions are known as the 'Nifty Fifty' - and for a damn good reason! It's wonderfully sharp for such a cheap lens, the dramatic depth of field makes for some awesome photos and the background blur is nice.
One of my favourite things about my Canon one is the low light performance - having a huge aperture means you can shoot handheld indoors most of the time without the flash - a massive plus point, as far as i'm concerned!

i hear great reviews about the sony 50mm f1.8 and its actually tempted me to "upgrade" my minolta 50mm f1.7, because apparently there is little distortion and chromatic abberations can only be found if you zoom in really close to the image.

just wanted to let you know i have this lens and it's very nice. it's price tag doesnt give it justice, it must be under priced ,,the sharpness is fantastic and the low level light is breathless ,i also use mine with 3x tele converter and with extention tubes and with all 3 combined and it still gives amazing result's in all aspects ,and it takes the best portrait photo's with large or shallow depth's of field ,my advise is buy it ,,as someone said earlier , it is a nifty fifty ,
i think what makes them so pleasing is our eye's are said to see the same as a 50mm lens so they take what you see,
hope this helps

I don't think I would ever buy a lens from fleabay

I know you got it for £103 but I would rather pay a bit more, around the £130 mark from Jessops and warehouse express, and get peace of mind knowing that should something go wrong it wont be a total pita getting it repaired, replaced or refunded

you talked that one up didnt you, toou my camera out of the car this morning, and let the lens clear from steaming up from cold car to hot room and its foggy, front and end glass is clear but the inside glass has a mottled, grainy look to it.... any ideas anyone?

yes 100% agree with this, also buying from jessops will give you a warranty which you dont tend to get when buying abroad.
