Hi

I have been using compacts since day one and I am now looking at buying my first SLR.

Im thinking of going for the Nex-3 with the 18-55mm lens. The only thing that is putting me off is the write up on http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/SonyNex5Nex3/ saying that it constantly overexposes images. Im guessing this can be fixed with the manual controls, but as im not very used to them I think it may take a month or two to drag me off auto mode.

The question is, are they correct does it overexpose all the time, and how bad is it?

Thx

don't bother as it's not actually a DSLR and like you say you want a DSLR, I recommend getting a Sony alpha a450/500/550 get some decent lens line up and then when you can afford it get the NEX-5 and the Sony a adapter and then you'll have an excellent set up.

Well I can afford the Nex-5 now, its just that i hardly ever record video, and I thought that was the only real difference between the two, that and the magnesium body.

If you want something small and compact, the Panasonic GF-1 is supposed to be very good. I am always drawn to the olympus ones though. They just look so much nicer!

If you want an SLR, go to your nearest camera shop and give them all a good fondle. See which one feels best in your hands and which menu system you prefer. Then buy that one! Its easy really!
