A few people have said this lens isn't that good..but have just been offered one for £70?? Is it worth picking up for that folks??

Yeah decent price, they go for about £100 usually. It's an alright lens, nothing special, but worth that.

It's worth it if you'll use a lens that wide. 16mm is very wide and not useful for general shots, which is a shame as it's so small.

IMHO the lens is OK - it's certainly not top notch IQ wise but then isn't priced at a level where you would expect it to be.

That said it's a very decent 'kit' lens and for £70 and absolute bargain

plus Sony do a wide VCL-ECU1 & a fisheye VCL-ECF1 matched converter for it which gives you a few more options at reasonable cost & small size/weight.

There may be some variability in the 16/2.8 so check that it isn't a poor copy.

Its a very good lens imo, i use it with the fisheye converter.

for £70 recommend very much.
