sony onboard flash

i have a sony a200 and have just bought an aftermartket flash for it(couldn't afford £230 for a sony one) but when i use it the a200's onboard flash still keeps popping up.. i have recently moved and my users manual is packed away in storage, so i do not know if this is meant to happen or is there a setting i need activate to stop it from popping up other than just turning it off.

any help would be great

are you using it on camera or off camera, check if the flash is turned on. also what flash is it.

It pops up in auto or have you set the flash to wireless trigger I will have alook in the manual

Obvious the camera does not recognise the external flash through the logic. You may be doing some damage there.
