Sony SSS v IS lens

Just a quick question........ when using a lens with built in OS,IS,VR or any other name for anti shake, should I use the inbuilt Sony SSS in the body or the one built into my lens, or can I just keep both on?:shrug:
 
you can use only one at a time.
whether you choose in-body or in-lens is upto you as they both have their own advantages.
 
Thank you for the information. Guess I will leave the in body stabliser do the work as not all my lenses have IS. Thanks again.
 
Typically in-lens IS systems work better than in-body so if I had a lens with IS I'd probably use that.
 
Personally I would favour the in body stabilisation - that way you won't have the hassle to turn it on and off depending whether a IS enabled lens is mounted, and its easy enough to turn off IS on the lenses.

There's some debate about which (if either) is better. Nikon, for example, advocate in-lens stabilisation as it is (supposedly) tuned differently for the type of lens whereas in-body IS is a catch-all compromise. Dunno if they're right or if it's just marketting hype to justify charging more for lenses :eek:

i have found the in body sr of pentax to be better than my vr in my nikon glass, but then my sigma 50-500mm os is better than my nikon vr but no differnet to my pentax k100/200/20/k5 was with my 500mm lenses on. olympus claim 5 stops in the e5
