Sony to canon

I seen a Sony lens today that was nice and wanted to know if I could get it to fit my Canon?

ah,that would most probably be the 70-300 G SSM..nice lens,but canon do an equivalent[image quality wise] for less money i believe...

No it was defo sony, it may be a 70-200 macro.

Maybe it was a sigma 70-200? They label their 70-200's as macro.

true macro lens' are always[as far as i know anyway]prime lens,and not zoom lens.although most will have the "macro" tag on them,they may not be so,especially if they are zoom lens...was the lens white in colour,as sony's 70-200 is white[with some black] in colour....

Sounds like it might have been one of the Sigma's they tend to have a red band on some lenses

Oh ok lol I will be going up to that shop again today so I will have another look.

possibly the 70-300 APO from Sigma, has a red ring at the front of the lens. It has macro capabilities from 200mm iirc, i used it once but the macro just means close foucsing and even at that you still have to be a good distance away from your subject. only really useful for stationary objects. they can be picked up for under £200 the last time i checked.

That's the basic 75-300 'kit' zoom. It's OK, but the Sigma 70-300 APO is better (and available in Canon fit EG Warehouse Express).

It is not a macro lens, BTW, it can manage 1:4, with a minimum focus distance of 1.5m (the Sigma does 1:2 and 0.95m, in Sony mount, not sure of spec of the Canon version).

For the money you are looking at I would be considering the Canon 55-250mm IS lens. I love mine.

Iv just got a tamron 70-300 macro. I actually like it.

Contrary to some opinion, the general consensus is the Tamron LD Di is just as good as the Sigma APO, only a few bucks cheaper. Most forums I haunt rate both lens very close to each other with some thinking it's a bit better IQ wise, others think almost as good. Enjoy the new lens, it's fine for a beginner.
