Day two and we went to Pompeii, I wasn't really bothered whether we went but my wife has always wanted to see it. I'm glad we did as it was absolutely fascinating and it shows just how advanced their civilisation was - running water, sewage system, an early form of cats eyes and the list goes on. Jan and I fell about laughing when I uttered the line from The Life of Brian "So what have the Romans ever done for us?", the Americans on the tour didn't get it. If you do go to the area I highly recommend it, but be sure to get a guided tour as you will miss most of the detail if you don't.
A couple of the ruins, the first with Vesuvius in the distance:
This part of the decoration from inside a brothel, as if you couldn't guess!
And just incase you couldn't find the brothel just follow the street signs...
Day two and we went to Capri, lovely island but very expensive and very crowded, this first image is from the town above the port.
We then went to Anacapri and this is from inside the Church of St Michel IIRC which had a beautiful tiled floor.
A chair lift took us to the top of Monte Solaro, the highest point on the island. I posted the first version of this yesterday but thought I'd try something a bit different with this one...
