Hi

Going away soon with the family and was going to take my 35mm, 18-70 and 55-200 with the D90 and also take my camcorder.

Last time we went I only took 35mm with my D80 and the camcorder. Did not use the camcorder much but want to take it with me.

So should I just take the 35mm and 55-200 or just the 18-70. We are going on a beach/city holiday. Thank you for all the help.

Help, please..

Are you going back to the same place ?

If yes, did you find the 35mm lens restrictive last time ? If not, then take this again, if so, then what was restrictive and then look at the lenses you've got.

Really depends on whether you want to carry minimal kit or have the option there - as you are doing with the camcorder, you didn't use it much last time, but want to take it again, if you can carry the extra lenses, why not take them ?

If you're trying to minimise what you are taking (not that your post suggests this) then just take the 18-70.

Thank you, for your replies. We are going to a different location and yes should have said I want to minimise what I am taking. Last time the 35mm worked well but I did feel that missed the zoom.

Take the 18-70 then...

You could leave the camcorder at home and take the 55-200 to give you that extra reach if required ?

Thanks.

if the zoom and picturequality are ok on the camcorder, you could leave the 55 200 at home

Thanks. Might just take the 18-70 and 35mm for indoor use.

I've always gone abroad for beach/family holidays in the sun with just the 5D2 & 50/1.4 - I have always managed to get by with that & came back with enough for holiday memories.

Now if you're going somewhere a bit more special & you haven't also got toddlers to keep a reign on then it's a little different. I think I'd still only add a nice wide though.

Thanks all for the suggestions, took the 18-70 and 35mm but only used the 18-70.

More importantly did you have a good time and did the lens perform for you ?

Thanks, yes we did. We went to Abu Dhabi to get some hot weather, which we did.

The lens worked well but as usual the kids do not like being taking pictures of so had to use auto mode most of the time to capture what I could.
