The whole premise of this thread appears to be to generate a mac vs PC argument. It's the same as Nikon vs Canon vs Sony vs Pentax vs Samsung.
Choose based on which supports what you want to do with it and has the right ergonomics ("feel") for you.
If the issue is with the cost of the mac then you need to look for any extra value for you that makes it worthwhile. The platform stability may justify that, it depends on how you value your time.
I bought a macbook. I love it. Was it expensive? Yes, a bit, but I have not spent any time on it doing anything other than what I wanted to do. Zero maintenance. For me that is worth a higher initial outlay. For you, it may differ.
