Sorry one last question about flash

I have been recommended this one here:

And I have just done a search to see if I can find a cheaper one and found this:

I just wondered if the first one was worth paying the extra for? I have never used flash before so I will have to learn as I go when it does arrive. I just don't want to spend a lot more if I don't have to at first.

In all seriousness though, if it's just a basic TTL flash you're after the YN468 will do the job nicely. It's also worth considering the Jessops 360AFD, it's a bit more expensive but a lot easier to return if there's a problem with it....
 
Thanks FITP :D I did look at the jessops one but I thought it seemed a bit basic compared with the one in the first link. But then again I don't have a clue about these features anyway! :shrug:

It's more basic than both, the only real benefit is peace of mind, YongNuo flashes have a nasty habit of, if not used regularly, going to sleep and never waking up again. If you do buy one make sure the seller has a reputation for honouring the warranty...
 
Oh really?! I didn't know about that :thumbsdown: That's no good becasue I wouldn't be using it daily at first and I need something that can last me. I may just go with the jessops one after all! I don't underdtand the terminology, but can the jessops one be used off camera?

The Jessops 360 AFD has a built-in optical slave, so it can be triggered from your camera's onboard flash. It's also worth having a look at the Nissin Di622 (around £80) or perhaps a secondhand Canon 430EX or EXII as these sometimes turn up for not a lot more in the classifieds and will hold their value better than the YongNuo, Nissin or Jessops flashes.
 
Thanks again, that's really helpful so I will have a look at those. I would have the Canon if I could find one a bit cheaper. I will have a look on the for sale section too!
