Hi,
I need to sound proof my camera for some stills photography on a film set, its low budget so I cannot afford expensive sound proofing for when i want to shoot whilst the video camera is running, is there anything that I can buy that will do a sililar job to a 'blimp'?

Thanks,

George.

You could try your live view if you have it, this is often a lot quieter shooting.
Failing that it shouldn't be too difficult to make a padded box of some sort with perhaps a sleve of some sort to get you hand in, it should muffle a lot of the sound.
Otherwise maybe hire a blimp??

which camera, canon xd series cameras have silent shooting modes, and so does my 50d but only in live view (for me at least)

It's still quite noisey.

well mine is relatively quiet, depends where the mics are and whether they're directional or not (ie if your an angle relative to the mic that it can hear)

and someone said that the 5dII 's silent shooting mode 2 was whisper quiet .....
