Soundcard needed

Looking for a win7 32bit pci soundcard but must have a digital out, either coaxial or optical but coaxial preferred. If anybody has used one they could reccomend all the better, it does not have to be mega-bucks as it will be used to output to a seperate Hi/Fi Dac unit.

No it does not I am afraid Neil,neither optical out. I was thinking of changing mobo but too much hassle for what I want to achieve. I have seen some cards out there but just wondering if one is going to be just as good as the other for what I want it for, just a digital signal out to the Dac for my mp3`s.
 
For most "normal" people (and by that I mean non-audiophiles), any card will do with the output you want. You can also get USB->digital adapters too - just depends which you prefer. Google will sort you nicely.

If you're an audiophile, where do you want me to begin....

Well Adam, I do like to get the best out of what I can afford so I must be normal then ( No comments Mods ).

The path to audiophilia is a very expensive one. Even more expensive than cameras....

Sorry i should have been more clear, not the connectors on the rear. Sometimes there will be pin outs on the actual board internally that you can connect to a pci backplate.

What's the motherboard?

Was just about to ammend that Andy :bang: Well I am happy with what I have at the moment so not spending too much now on it.
 
I'll say it again, if all you're interested in is digital out, any card, no matter how cheap, should do..

Only if the DAC has a USB port ;) I have 2 external DACs. One has a USB port, the other doesn't. The expensive one doesn't ;)

Cheers Neil, thing is it is the more expensive ones in the xonar range that have the coaxial out.
