Spat my dummy out

I've just done the same thing myself, so am trying google chrome and opera as of today. Both firefox and IE are really annoying me!

I did opera for a while but moved away when Chrome came out. I found opera a little unstable, and also gmail didnt work in it (at the time, i dont know about now) so that meant i have to use another browser for my email.

Though once you try opera's 9 tile homepage thing you'll never go back........i'd try chrome as well, it has the tiles, a simple interface (with lots of sliding or drop down features which are nice), and a very thin bar at the top so you get maximum screen space.

You'll love that when you open a new tab....you dont get a blank and useless screen, forcing you to press yet more buttons to get where you want to go, that my main bug bear with FF and IE.

I moved from Opera to Firefox earlier this year as I found that Opera was buggy, slow and unstable.
So far I've been happy with firefox and I really like various plugins that are available.
I've no problems with it so far and speed wise, it seems fine.

I'm a doofus! It's actually Safari and Chrome I'm using, not opera. Safari is really nice.

Check out chrome, I'm a big fan... and I was a diehard firefox user a few months ago. Chrome dev channel has some neat features (hello bookmark sync), all without the slowdown you get when you add firefox features, is slimline, and very very very fast. +1 for google, yet again :P

Try Safari. Nice.

Nothing personal but remarks like this really annoy me.
I have no idea what platform the OP is using, do you?
So if he is using a PC, a Mac specific web browser is as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Opera works really well for me, just started using opera unite as well so I can get to my files remotely.

Er, you do realise that Safari is available for both Mac and PC don't you.

I'll accept your apology shortly.

haha... as much as I love slagging off apple, let's not turn this into a mac vs pc war :P

I found safari for PC pretty lacking in features, and with a few small annoyances, didn't render things 'correctly' (important for web dev work), and was slower than chrome. So chrome won for me. YMMV, especially on a mac :)

Chrome and Safari are related via the Webkit engine aren't they. I'm not starting a Mac/PC war, I have and use both daily. I'd just like misinformed people do a little research before taking a pop at me, especially when they list their occupation as Senior IT Technician

I've been an Opera user since it came on one floppy disk back version two point something. I couldn't use another browser now if I wanted to (and I don't want to). Excellent choice clud17.

There's a few pages Opera doesn't render properly - or strangely, not many.
Firefox is a slug.
Chrome is a bit to 'feature lean' for my taste.
Opera shows me exif (if present) in the context menu out of the box.
For me, it's the best call atm.

Oops....
That'll teach me.

when you say buggy, what sort of bugs do you mean?

Various, some websites wouldn't load correctly that were supposed to be ok with Opera, would sometime crash etc.

In all fairness I think it was the last two builds of Opera I had issues with, before then it was fine for me.
A lot of people had issues with the previous build of firefox but it's been fine for me.

I did say don't take it personally, it wasn't intended as a pop as such.
I actually thought you were trolling and for that I am sorry.
My mistake and yes, I honestly didn't realise that there was a version of Safari for the PC.
My IT occupation is mainly hardware and OS based, I've never claimed to know about every piece of software on the market.

Again, sorry if I caused offence.
I see enough flamming and wars on other forums and it's not my desire for the same to happen here.

There is no point in a platform war.
There is friendly, harmless banter between Canon and Nikon users and the same should be applied for ones choice of computer platform.
As many have said, they are just a tool and we choose which one we prefer.

I guess time tells with anything new. At the moment im happy as i can browse my emails and this forum before i've eaten my corn flakes. By the time fire fox loaded i was on coffee. Ive just taken a look at chrome too so whichever one works best for me i'll stick with.

just out of curiosity Hash Cake, what's trolling?

It's when someone makes a comment on a forum with a view to gain a reaction.
Thankfully it's very rare to see it happen here, other forums can be plagued with trolls.

I used to be a Safari (for PC) fan but lack of an exif viewer has driven back to IE. Is there a plugin for chrome that would enable me to see exif data?

Luckily I read the remainder of the thread before I replied!

............but it was rather close!
