Afternoon all….. I’m sick of going on holiday and using the DSLR for “Holiday Snaps” I don’t mind taking it away and using it properly for Landscape / Sunsets / Sunrises and so on but for a walk about camera its to big and heavy and I don’t want to rack up the shutter count just for the sake of holiday snaps.
So ……. Here’s the thing I’ve got a Sony DSC-HX9V Cyber Shot and for the most part I’m more than happy with it. I’ve never really sat and read the instructions but lately I thought id give it a shot now that my photography skills and knowledge have improved but I’ve now realised how restrictive it actually is and how rubbish the JPEG compressions is so I want a better point and shoot!!
Is this to much to ask for ……. I want, RAW, Manual mode, at least 16 Zoom… I’m not fussed on £D or 4k or built in Pano!!
What do you use and has any one upgraded from the one I’ve got to something better??
Thanks

Not sure on zooms, but know Pannys have good zooms on some models. Trouble is the 'better compacts' out there will probably not be much different to a 24-120 ff equiv i think.

Sony RX100 - just bought a used one and looks good?

Used rx100...bargain now the price has dropped.

Ooops just seen the 2014 bit

Well ... The walking about DSLR lens I've chose is the 24-120 but I don't want to lugging the D750/24-120 combo about on day trips or holidays

I'll take a look at the RX100.... I've been quite impressed with some of the reviews I've read of the Nikon S9700

We have a canon s110 for the times on holiday when we want something that takes good pictures but fits in the jeans pocket.

I use my 5d mkii for holiday snaps all the time though the shutter count doesn't worry me and I have some super sharp hi res shots of hotel rooms and meals from across the globe that even I'm not interested in looking at!
