I have just become the proud owner of a nice shiney new 100-400L lens :D and as such out grew my current rucksack.

I have been looking around and have found a few that should take my current kit and give me a bit of room to expand but they seem to have features i don't want / need. Laptop pocket or non camera gear section which seems a waste really.

I have found a couple which more suit my needs but are a little smaller and was wondering if you could give your more experienced opinion on whether they would be suitable, i do tend taking them abroad next spring as hand luggage so it can't be too big.

The 2 i have in mind are the Tamrac Adventure 74 or 75 (75 has a little more height to it).

If you feel there is a more suitable option for a similar price (£70) please let me know.

TIA

If you want BIG.....then these are an exact replica of the Lowepro Computrekker AW. It does have the the Laptop compartment that you said you didn't want though, but if you can ignore that, you'll fit a ton of gear in there!!

I have the GEM branded version (again, exactly the same) and it's great.....

If you want to go a little smaller, then the minitrekker might do ya'!!

Take a look at the Lowepro Flipside 400. It's my most recent camera bag purchase and served me well on my recent togging trip to Wales. My 100-400 fits easily, attached to my 7D or 1D3 and there is ample room for other stuff too. As camera bags go it is fairly light, has an integrated weatherproof cover and is fairly secure, with access to the main section only available from the side of the bag against your body. I like it.

Give me a mo and I'll post up a pic.

Here you go - 1D3 and 100-400, 5D2 body, 24-70, 16-35, 100L Macro, space for 580EX, batteries, leads/triggers. I've also got lens hoods for everything in there and also a 1.4X teleconverter and weatherproof rainsleeve. There is also an outer pouch which currently has filters and other nik-naks in it. There are two stretch pockets on the sides for a water bottle or similar and two options for attaching a tripod.

I paid £60 for mine from Morris Photographic, but sadly prices have gone up since then. It pays to shop around.

You sir, are a genius. I have been deciding which version of the flipside to get and your kit is so similar to what I'm going to end up with that you've saved me thinking (or at least starting a thread). 400 rather than 300 it is.

Merci!
