Special lighting?

I am about to purchase a new monitor and to get the best out of it I want to use correct lighting in my office (which I want to install before the monitor arrives), so that my colour balance remains very consistant to my eye, day and night.

My office is fairly small and I am considering putting up a single fluorescent light fitting and putting a 6500K artificial daylight tube in it, but wondered what lighting everyone else has in the vicinity of their workstations?

Thanks.

Does everyone just 'get by' with their normal household lighting then?

Is there an 'industry standard' room light setup?

Thanks for your reply Neil.

It doesn't sound like anyone else is too bothered about the ambient light in the vicinity of there monitor.

I have the Eye-One Display 2 which is able to calibrate for ambient light.

My problem at the moment is the ambient light in my office during the day is a different kelvin to night time, and I don't want to recalibrate twice a day!

My plan is to install lighting that matches daylight as near as possible when it is the sole light source after dark, but before I did that, I just wanted to make sure there wouldn't be lots of people on here saying there was a better option and I've wasted my money :gag:

I guess my best bet would be to speak to the supplier I am buying the monitor from.

Cheers anyway.
