Speedlite 480 not firing

Hi

I have recently bought a speedlite 480EX ii and I am a little worried as it has stopped firing. The pilot light is on but it wont fire. My battery charger indicator shows some charge but im not sure if its too low to fire the flash. I assume if the pilot light is on it should fire.

Richard....what happens when you push the pilot lamp assuming it's lit?
Can you also reconfirm the flash model number.

Sorry it is the 430EXii.

When I hit the pilot button it lets off a flash

Have you locked it on properly, and is it the right way round, ie the screen facing the back of the camera

Have you checked the menu to make sure its not disabled

If you touch a wire/paper clip between the centre pin and the edge of the shoe, does it fire then?

Yes. It was working fine, I took a couple shots then it just stopped. I thought it was the battery but like I said the pilot light is still on and when I checked the battery there was still some charge. I no expert using the flash so it could be a menu option but I went no where near the menu options.

This has been sorted now. Dont ask just me being a muppet.
