is it the spellchecker on "windows ,mail" ?

if it is , you have to disable it , close windows mail , open windows mail and then enable it

Get a dictionary?

Actually, you could try downloading "ispell" for internet explorer, it's very handy for checking spellings when putting together posts in a forum such as this one. It also seem to work for writing emails using a web-based client.
And when I'm completely unsure of a word, I open up google.co.uk and when I type in the first few letters of that word in "search, it will always autocomplete the exact word I'm looking for.
