Are the simple hotshoe ones any good?
 
If your using a tripod you can get it pretty much spot on, a tiny tweak in post if needed, I'd say not worth it.
 
Yes, I'd never be without mine for landscape work, particularly if you are using a wide angle.
 
Yep, since I started using one for landscapes I have rarely needed to crop or rotate. :thumbs:
 
Thanks for the views, people. I think it's well worth it for a couple of quid. :)
 
Not worth it IMO. I've got or had several and only one of them was accurate when compared to a known to be accurate datum. I eventually switched to a Seculine digital level which is adjustable (mine didn't need it) and visible when the camera's up to the eye. Now use the level built into the D700.

From time to time, the spirit levels appear on magazines as cover gifts so are free - about what they're worth.
 
Fair point. TBH, I've always just straightened up in PP anyway.
 
Yes I use one for landscape even on my D700 as it is so easy to use.
