Spirit Levels

I have a Canon 550d. I'm considering purchasing a hot shoe spirit level.

A) Do people use them
B) They come in all various shapes and sizes.

I struggled to find a comparison site for review and wondered what your thoughts are?

p.s My tripod has one built in but I do not travel with it all the time

Very good, I had not considered the idea of trying to use a standard one at night time and not being able to see it! Especially when I really like taking long exposures. Looks really good and I can use it 24/7

You could do a lot worse than get yourself a Seculine electronic spirit level. They are excellent and very accurate and you can see them at night!
