Sports photography lens recommendations

Hi all.

I took some shots at the Bluewater 10k this weekend and found my Sigma 70-300 struggled with speed.. Anyone have any recommendations for a lens compatable with my 20d for under £500? (Preferably under £350!)

A used sigma 70-200 f28 . will do the trick for that kinda sport and is about on budget

F/2.8 to f/28 is more than one stop

that L glass is apparently very sharp but not that cheap
have you used the Canon 70-300 IS as an alternative to the sigma? no macro but...

I reccomended and was agreed .. the sigma 70-200 f2.8 used which would come in around 350 on budget..its only a short thread mate..
