Good morning everyone.
Finally managed to get a website up and running.
Was hoping to get someone who knows about webdesign to do it but failed, ao thought I wold have a go myself. I used iWeb as I have an Apple Mac. There are somethings that are a bit irritating but my lack of knowledge is slowing me down considerably.
Well let me know what you think, and how I can improve it.
Cheers everyone.
Stu

Hi Stu

Looking at your site it does not look as if you knew nothing about web design. I would prefer to see something about you on your home page so that there is something to go back to rather than just pass it by.

If you are hoping to get business via your site it would help to give an indication as to what part of the country you are in or cover.

If you can find someway of the full url's not showing up in the slideshows it would look tidier (and make it make it more difficult for people to source that information)

I really like what you have done with your family photographs

Hi Stu,

It's a nice clean site well presented and easy to navigate, job well done I would say

Good advice from Kerioak though about putting details of where you are on the site, as you are inviting people to contact you for portraits, but you could be in Plymouth and they might be in York, which is a bit of a trek.

Hop this helps.

Thank you for the kind comments. I have some problems though..The site was designed in iWeb on my mac and when I view it live it looks good and you can't access the images. Problem is when you look at it using a PC, then it doesn't look as tidy and you seem to be able to download the photos. This is were my major lack of knowledge is hampering me :'(

Just a couple of things....

Home page has a Title Spotlight Photography, big letters, in your face, then other pages do as well, however they are higher up the screen so when you are moving from the home page to other pages the bright white jumps up the screen - very distracting to me anyway. Actually a there is a lot of motion in the website - and not just in the pictures. Everything seems to twitch when pages are changed at least in FF3 on XP.

White on Black is bad enough however Blue on Black is just as bad if not worse for your Biography text. You need to get someone to suggest alternative wording though - your style is rather off target, which is a shame because having struggled to read it I would like to say it was OK.

:agree: about a location.
If you don't want to put your home address on the web, then how about a PO box? At least then people will be able to see which area you are from.

Other than that, it looks fine...

No.... wait... ArrrghhH!!!! no it doesn't! "If your reading " What? Use English man; that should be "If your're reading"

Regarding the download issue - if a photo is on the interweb, on a website, and displayed on a computer it is downloadable. End Of. Even on a Mac. (search your browser cache if you don't believe me).

Cheers for the reply Ben, appreciate the commenst and will try and fix some of them, especialy the grammatical error! Quest question, what is a good file size for the photos so that even if they are downloaded the resolution means you can't do much with them?

>>appreciate the commenst
No problem.

Perhaps a couple of hundred pixels on each side? totally unusable off the web for anything bigger than thumbnails.
