Spyder3 Pro or ColorMunki Display

i would go for spyder 3 elite if you want to calibrate more tham one monitor to 1 comp, i have one comp with win 7 32 and 64 bit on with 1 monitor and beacuse it relies on you adjusting the monitor brightness your self, both say the brightness needed is slightlighty different by +2(for me), where as elite is all done for you and adjusted by the grapics card which is better as you dont need to adjust it each time..

I received my Spyder 3 Pro today and am very impressed. Easy to set up/use.

The only word of warning from me is take care when you slide the counter weight along the cable as the cable is quite thin. I found it easier to moisten the cable (good old spit) then apply gentle but constant pressure.

If you buy the Pro you can upgrade to Elite online for £77.

If it's the Colormunki Photo, than the colormunki as it will also profile your printer and paper. If it's the new colormunki that doesn't profile printers then any will do

I have just ordered a Spyder 3 Pro, good price at the moment from Warehouse Express.

Spyder and LED monitors does spyder3 work with LED monitors as I hav had spyder 2 but since changeing to led I have had problems but I have now upgrades to win 7 so need a new profile system, I ask because the munki quotes LED but the Munki dosn,t. sorry for hijacking the thread

Thanks to those who have taken part.

No worries, worth asking and something I'm happy to hear about too :)

How did you get on with it? Did you use it with an LED monitor?

I have had a Spyder 3 Pro for about 18 months and have been very satisfied with it. Even use it on my iPad!

no the hardware is improved - not the same as 3

Spyder v4 now available....

Best price £106 + £4.95 p&p. www.cancomuk.com

Just wondered if there was any truth in the following though....

That the actual hardware is the same as in previous versions, the update is in the software.....

Would anyone know?

I'm using a normal laptop screen but seems to have done a great job!

I always thought it'd be pointless doing on a laptop screen because as you change the screen angle, the display looks different. Is that not the case or are you doing something to try and ensure that you're always viewing at the same angle?

I used to own a Spyder2 and upgraded to the colormunki photo. It's a totally different beast to your standard monitor calibration tool. The printer profiling (one of the reasons I bought it) is fantastic. Quick and easy to use and although you need to amend the brightness as noted above, once it's done once there's very little (if any) change required again.

Not sure how quick the Spyder3 is but the colormunki takes about 2 minutes start to finish. My old Spyder2 took about 7-10!

Not at all. I wouldn't be without one (used to use Huey Pro until it died), sure the brightness changes if you don't keep in the right position (perpendicular to the screen) but colours still need correcting no matter what. It's really not difficult to keep in the right place.

Hello all, I use a couple of laptops both hooked up to 23 " led backlit monitors ( using both the laptop monitors and the 23 " monitors at the same time) to process my images... and have been thinking of getting some kind of calibration device, and hey presto have just come across this thread..the thing is i am not sure what i need...is it the spyder 3 elite or is it the spyder elite 4 or will either work ok with led backlit monitors ? ? ?...also will one spyder do both computers or will i needone each for both machines ? ? ?...sorry for all of the questions but I haven't got a clue what I need ..but I have noticed that if i stick the same images on both machines at the same time they look different on all of the monitors.

thanks Steve.
