Spyder5Express V5.4 anyone?

I've been uding my Spyder5Express monitor calibrator since 2015 and it's worked really well.
However yesterday I noticed an available update to Version 5.5 so I updated ... wrong!!! :banghead:
After updating the software is unusable, just giving a 'runtime error' and saying it can't calibrate because the colours are 'unexpected'.

I've uninstalled, re-installed and still won't work.
In desperation I even put in a support ticket ... still working through replies that show no one is reading my words!
I've looked for a Version 5.4 to download and get me back to where I was but to no avail.
Anyone know where I can find a Version 5.4 download please?
 
That is unfortunate that they do not list the prior version(s) for a current model :(

Interestingly, I noted that v5.4 is not shown in the changelog.................though v5.3 is mentioned

But going to the SpyderX model they show no Elite but there is v5.4 of the software!!!!

Sorry I cannot offer any other insight(s) and hope you can get it sorted AOK in due course.

PS Did it come with a CD/DVD of the software etc, if so that might be your best bet even if it is older than v5.4 ???

Thanks ... unfortunately there was no CD/DVD, just a download link to the current version, which was then 5.4
Annoying that it is just useless on my machine ATM :(
 
Does the "runtime error" dialogue give any sort of Error Code number?
 
If you can't get the Spyder software to work download displaycal, its free and better than the Spyder.
I went for it because my Spyder 3 is obsolete and I am not buying another colourimeter and it works fine with Displycal

A good point....................I have seen displaycal mentioned a few times for users of older Spyder models.................surely worth a try in the absence of meaningful support from Datacolor???

Although Spyder5 is shown as compatible in the notes, it doesn't mention Spyder5Express.

I hope everyone using DisplayCal is weighing in with a few quid
Valuable resource and well worth a few bob to keep it evolving and improving
 
Just a thought,if you are running windows you should be able to roll the system back to before you installed the upgrade

None of the Spyder models on the supported instruments list https://displaycal.net/#instruments are sub divided to Express, Pro, Elite! However, (note not a DisplayCao user ;) ) there is mentioned the need to have the right version of ArgyllCMS installed.....on that latter point, it was my understanding that ArgyllCMS needs to be installed first before DisplayCal.

So and asking the obvious did you follow the instructions as to how install DisplayCal???

Unfortunately the last restore point is 1/3/2020 and that would affect literally dozens of programmes.
Wish I had thought to set a restore point before I updated. :(

I did ... the Argyll thingy doesn't actually install, it sits in a file and DisplayCal asks to find where the file is located.
Hopefully my request for a download link to V5.4 from Datacolor will produce results but I'm not holding my breath.
