Yes
I love square format but will the cost of about £1 per frame it is not something I can justify the expense on my budget.
So I have considered shooting dslr with the intent of cropping in post to square.
So 30% waste of pixels and the same waste on paper.
Please discuses pros and cons

I think something is missing from this post, the first paragraph doesn't make sense - where's the £1 coming from?

Anyway, square (and round) sensors where very recently discussed on another thread.

Pro: You get the square format that you wish for.

Con: The wastage of pixels/paper

If you wish to do it then you have little option but to accept either the cost or the wastage!

Paul, I think you covered the pros and cons pretty well yourself.

The same applies when heavily cropping any photo but as long as you have enough pixels to start with it doesn't really matter.

There's no waste of paper if you use a lab though.

Thanks for the replies. I could still print almost 12in by 12in from my D90 and no one has come up with anything I had not thought of so I will give it a go

I'm guessing you could print much larger than that.
