Standard DX lens

Hi all,

I have just bought a D7000, 70-200 2.8, and am about to buy a 10-24mm. Conveniently, this leaves a 24-70mm shaped hole in my focal range line up.

I will be looking to go full frame in the next year or two, so a 24-70mm 2.8 (Nikon or Sigma I imagine) isn't out of the question. I'm concerned, however, that 24mm will leave me yearning for wide too often. I have been used to shooting 35mm with my X100, and loved the focal length, so a 24mm (~36mm DX) wide end might not be too much bother.

Any advice regarding using a FF 24-70mm on a DX body? Am I being stupid considering it, or would I be even more stupid spending money doubling up on focal lengths?

I'd be tempted by the 35mm f1.8 and the 50mm f1.8 to cover the range in between, depends on how you like to shoot I suppose.

Got the 35mm 1.8 already, so might add a 50mm to complement it. Just feel like I'd be missing a walkaround lens, but I supposed I'm used to walking around with a 35mm prime!

Well you got a good one at 10-24mm, knowing you have the 35mm makes sense to get the 50mm and maybe even the 85, that should cover all your street needs if that's what you are into and the 50 and 85 are full frame

Looking to go FF then get the 24-70 second hand, if it's not right and you can afford to keep it, keep it, if not then sell it on for little to no loss and get something cheaper, like the DX 16-85mm, which is great little do it all walkaround.

16-85mm is brilliant on my D7000 but anyone will tell you it's quite expensive.
