Hi all,

I'm about to go to a hotel @ Stansted airport on business for a couple of days & thought I might take a few plane photos when I get a chance.

I can't take too much gear with me & I'll take one body 5D or 50D + a wider zoom (16-35 or 24-105).

For plane shots I can take either:

135L
70-200 f2.8 IS
300 F4 L IS

and will pack a 1.4x converter.

Which body & long lens would you think is the best option? I'm not sure where within the airport is best to catch pictures of the planes either on the ground or landing / taking off.

Many thanks in anticipation,

Phil

Phil,

A quote from the plane spotter's website;
Stansted is well known for being one of the worst airports in the UK from a spotting and certainly from a photography point of view

In view of this, I'd be tempted to take your 50D then (re the 1.6 crop factor) and your 300 F4 lens. :thumbs:

Thanks both! Actually I'm in a hotel near to the runway and I think I can get some decent shots from the side as they land / takeoff from the hotel car park.

I've bought the 135L & the 300L & the 1.4x on the 50D to give me some options!
