Star filter.

I thought I would start using a start filter for a bit of fun and maybe to get a little extra in some of my night shots.
I've only given it a quick bash but the flare (star effect) is too wide, is there any way of reducing the effect to just a small star. I thought maybe reducing the aperture might help, but it didn't make any difference. Can anyone help please?

Take the star filter off and try shooting your night shots with different apertures, and different lenses. You'll find you can get quite different effects with the same lens at different apertures, and between different lenses at the same aperture.

I doubt if you can modify the effect of a star filter.
I had one one back in my 35mm days. After using it a couple of times the novelty wore off.

I know what you mean arclight, I can imagine it being in the bag of spares after a couple of go's with it. I'll do what you suggest Alistair and have a go with different lenses and apertures. Cheers.
