So many times I've headed into a thread titled like this one (before I added the Windows bit) and replied "there isn't one".
Well, no more.
Finally someone's combined the know-how and motivation to develop a star trails stacker that runs on Mac and Linux. It's free, it's called StarStaX and is now available for download from www.starstax.net.
v0.4 was also launched this week with a release for Windows.
There's also a flickr group for image sharing and any technical queries.
